PARRY SOUND – Since May a pair of thieves wreaked havoc on local businesses, and police want the public’s help in nabbing the culprits. For the last eight months, West Parry Sound OPP has been investigating a number of break and enters of small businesses from Alban to Orillia, as well as Carling Township, Bala and the Town of Parry Sound. The majority of businesses are located just off Highway 69, Highway 400 and Highway 11 corridors. “A male has been caught on camera in several locations and it appears that it is the same male in most of the break and enters,” said West Parry Sound Det. Sgt. Jeff Betts Monday morning. “The suspect has attended the small businesses during late night hours and quietly enters, mostly targeting cash.” On a number of occasions, Betts said, the man has entered the same businesses a second or even a third time, weeks after the initial break in. “Police has also observed a female with the male at one of the break-ins,” he added. The culprits don’t appear to drive to the location, but walk up with a flashlight in hand. “The male is described as white, medium build in his 20s to 30s. The female is also white, much shorter than the male, also with a medium build,” Betts said. Betts added that the night vision security cameras do not accurately reflect the colours of the clothing that the suspects are wearing in the photos. The West Parry Sound OPP is appealing to the public for assistance in this matter.
